Our Story

We didn’t set out to become nomads.

In 2019, we sold our home. Eighteen months later, we decided to sell or give away most of what we owned, keeping only a small lock-up of memories and a few things we couldn’t quite part with. We packed what we needed into a few suitcases, left our rented accommodation in the UK and boarded a plane for Cavtat in Croatia, somewhere neither of us had ever been.

There wasn’t a grand plan.

We had spent decades building the sort of life we thought we were supposed to want. Careers, a home, routines and all the certainty that came with them. From the outside, there was little reason to change any of it. But somewhere along the way, life had begun to feel smaller rather than bigger.

Changes in work, the boys beginning to go their own ways and a serious health scare forced us to question what we were doing and, more importantly, how we wanted to spend the years ahead.

That was quite a few years ago.

Since then, we’ve lived in small villages and busy cities, beside beaches, lakes and mountains, travelling through Europe, Africa and South America. Sometimes we’ve known where we’re going next. Quite often we haven’t.

Along the way, the way we travel has changed too. We stay longer, cook at home, shop in local markets, use public transport and get to know the people around us. A recommendation from someone we’ve met has often determined where we go next more than any itinerary.

Dream Chasers began simply as a way of recording our experiences for family and friends. Over time, it became something more. Not just a record of the places we’ve visited, but of how our lives have changed as we’ve become more comfortable with uncertainty, more open to the people and places around us, and less concerned about knowing what comes next.

We’re still travelling. We’re still deciding as we go.

We still don’t really know where it ends.

And perhaps that’s the point.
